Our original room at the rear of the hotel (on the 4th floor) was very, very nice and well proportioned. We were given an option to upgrade to a larger room for £20 per night extra which was located on the 1st floor. Again it was beautiful so we decided to take it. That was a major mistake.
The large windows rattled with the passing traffic and when the buses went past it was unbearably loud. We had 2 nights of no sleep.
We made it known to the front of staff who apologised and gave us a good discount. However, we’d definitely stay at the Principal again but this time stick to a room above the 1st floor and not facing the main road.
